Classic Clapton performed by After Midnight
The World's No1 Eric Clapton Tribute Band will be making a welcome return to Playhouse Whitley Bay on Sunday 8th May 2022. Fans are advised to book early.
The band features front-man Mike Hall who not only looks like Eric, he sings and plays guitar like him too! They were formed in 1985 in Newcastle and named themselves ''After Midnight'' after Eric Clapton’s first solo hit.
Like many other performing artists Classic Clapton’s live touring schedule was badly affected by the Pandemic outbreak and subsequent lockdown. In March 2020 the band were just commencing their 35th Anniversary UK Tour. This was brought to a sudden halt and it would be another 19 months before they would perform in front of an audience again (in Autumn 2021). All of the band members followed the government guidelines during lockdown and were double vaccinated at an early stage. As a result, fortunately they all avoided serious illness. Now they are raring to go and keen to get back on stage again in front of the audiences we have missed so much. Frontman Mike Hall commented:-
“We are particularly looking forward to meeting our fans again at Playhouse Whitley Bay in May 2022. Since the band was formed (as After Midnight) in 1985, North Tyneside and Whitley Bay have been 2 of our favourite locations to play. In the early days we performed in many small pubs, clubs and hotels in the area. Since 2000 we have appeared at The Playhouse numerous times and the local audiences always give us a great reception. We can’t wait to see them again.”
