MY LIFE, MY STORY
It was the conflict of a generation and one that many will never forget. On the second of April 1982, Argentina invaded the Falkland Islands with the aim of recapturing them from Spain.
The Islands, which had been controlled by Great Britain for nearly 150 years, became a battle ground and the UK government was quick to defend both the Islands and its inhabitants.
What was to follow saw the deaths of 655 Argentinian Soldiers and 255 British Serviceman. Amongst those who were sent to the conflict was Simon Weston CBE.
In one of the most horrific moments of the conflict the RFA Sir Galahad was bombed by two Argentinian planes, aboard at the time was Simon.
This was an event which would change his life forever.
Eventually, and against the odds, Simon escaped the burning and buckled ship, but only after suffering 46% burns to his body.
Now, after his 2015 Sell Out UK tour, Simon returns to the stage for a second time to continue sharing his incredible life story.
Hosted by one of his closest friends in life, David Fitzgerald, the show will give a unique insight into the highs and lows Simon has faced since that moment in 1982.
The duo will recall some incredible moments. From some of the darkest days where Simon felt everything had gone, to his 30 year journey of recovery, and discovery which has now resulted in a recent CBE, being chosen for the “People’s Portrait” and, against all odds, incredible success in business, publishing and his relentless support for charities across the country.
