North East Kids Christmas Panto Review

Posted on 17 December 2024

Yesterday’s we went along to the Playhouse Whitley Bay to see Peter Pan and it’s a proper belter of a show for the whole family.

From start to finish, we were glued to our seats (well, apart from all the clapping and cheering).

The storyline is great and the writers have done a great job with this never seen before panto.

I have to mention the crocodile scene… the minute I heard the Defying Gravity tune, I was buzzing for what was to come… WOW. I can’t say too much, but trust me, it’s worth the ticket price alone.

The new storyline was fresh, exciting and packed with laughs, and the cast were absolutely outstanding!

Charlotte Walls (aye, Steve Walls’ daughter!) shone on that stage—what a star she is. Luke Martin as Sparky had us howling, proper hilarious and so full of energy. Dame Patsy, Daniel Mawston smashed it again this year, beautiful, funny, and those legs I say it every year, and I’ll say it again— twit twoo!

Of course, it wouldn’t be the Playhouse panto without Steve Walls and he’s back as Smee this time, classic, funny, and always brilliant with the crowd. Darren Day as Captain Hook was a perfect villain, charming yet dastardly, just how Hook should be!
Makenzie even got up for the kids’ singalong and belted out “A Sailor Went to Sea” I was so proud (even if she told the whole theatre we were from Scotland. Those moments make it so personal and special, it’s what panto’s all about. Whether you’re 5 or 85, you’ll be laughing, singing and clapping your heart out.

Honestly, this show is pure magic, so grab your tickets now before the croc snaps ’em up! [
